The most advanced desktop 3D printer ever created. At the heart of the machine is a powerful optical engine: a 250mW precision laser is guided by custom-built galvanometers, delivering big prints with spectacular detail.

The Form 2 prints bigger, better. The new integrated resin system allows for larger prints, less mess, and longer tank life.

Product Information

"At the end of the day, you wont find a consumer-level 3D printer that makes more detailed, dimensionally accurate, structurally robust models than this one does. But that’s not the only reason we picked it. It’s also far more user friendly than other printers in its class, and despite being extremely advanced, its interface is so simple that even beginners should have no trouble using it."  See full review by Digital Trends

Formlabs Form 2 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q:  How much does it cost to 3D print?  How do I work out my material costs?

A:  Print costs are calculated based on the total volume of the print. This is calculated in the software. You can download the software for free here:

Try importing some of your own models. Material volume costs are easy to calculate. See the following example:

2 x Grey Resin 1lt @ $245 each = $490
1 x Resin Build Tank @ $100
Total Cost = $590
$590 / 2000 millilitres (2 litres)
= $0.29 per millilitre
(The resin build tank lasts for 2lts of resin. The tank is a consumable and can only be used for one resin colour/type)

The preform software will tell you how many millilitres your print will use, allowing you to calculate the total material cost.

Q:  How easy is it to use the liquid resins?  Are there any safety concerns?

A:  The SLA printers are a bit more messy then FDM. You are dealing with liquid resin so more care does need to be taken. The printer comes with latex gloves and all the tools needed to post process the prints after printing. You will however need to purchase isopropyl alcohol locally. This is used to wash the prints after completion post curing. The resin is easy to clean up using the alcohol.

Q:  How are the resin materials and waste handled?

A:  If you manage your resin correctly there should be no waste to dispose of. Supports and removable parts of the print can be disposed along with standard waste removal.
